You will want to save the date of March 31, 2016 for the presentation of "CHISD Does Fashion With A Flair". Students of CHISD are doing everything from logo design & printing by graphic design class, meal preparation and serving by culinary class, entertainment by Bray Elementary School orchestra, Set up, serving, greeting guest are all student manned.
Student, teachers and administrator make up the Style Show models. Wardrobe will be from New2You Thrift Store to show off the quality of fashions the store has in it's inventory.
We believe this partnership will benefit both entities. By showcasing CHISD students it will ensure that our school district demonstrates commitment to providing real-life experience that go beyond the school and it will contribute to meet the needs of the less-fortunate in out community.
The event will be held at the CHISD Ninth Grade Center, 1515 W. Belt Line Rd, 6:30 p.m., March 31, 2016. As in years past, the proceeds from the event help our organization to provide food and to fund additional programs that give a "hand up" to those amongst us most in need. We are asking the public to partner with us in this endeavor by being one of our event sponsors. Sponsorship is a tax exempt donation that will provide you with the opportunity to distinguish your business among the many community partners. Help comes from all directions. If you found a note on your door that says --
Hello, my name is Liam Robbins. I am a seventh grader at Bishop Dunne Middle School, in Dallas, TX. I am working on ways that I can give back to our community and help out as much as I can. I am therefore holding a local food drive for our Cedar Hill Food Pantry this week. If you would be so kind as to help me gather non-perishable food items, to help those in need in our home town. Everything will be greatly appreciated. I will be back around on Saturday morning (3/12/16) before 11am, to collect anything you can spare, to then pass on that day to the food pantry. Please leave any donations on your front porch marked FOOD PANTRY, or in a bag by your mailbox.
What would you do? Saturday Liam brought in over 36 bags of food
WAY TO GO LIAM!!!!! You are an example for others in our community.
When Boy Scout Nicholas Ray, Troop 520, came to Cedar Hill Shares Food Pantry he wanted to know if he could help in any way. I asked him what type of work would he like to do. He thought for a few minutes and decided he could make the most difference if he cleaned the flower beds.
I was thrilled. Nobody ever wants to do that! He and his dad, Richard Ray, came at 8:00 a.m. with all the tools they needed. They worked from 8:00 a.m. until past 5:00 p.m. Not even taking a lunch. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!
The whole front of the building looks fresh and clean. Drop by and check us out.
Thank you so much Nicholas. You chose an amazing way to spend your Christmas Break.
